Biography

Prof Chetty is a registered Specialist Family Physician. He serves as Deputy Chairman of SAMCC. He is the Chairman of the IPA Foundation of SA and Chairman of Kwa Zulu Natal Doctors Healthcare Coalition. Morgan was the associate Professor and Head of Managed Care and Health Services Management of the University of KwaZulu Natal, Nelson Mandela – School of Medicine.

He now serves as visiting Professor to the Department of Research, Durban University of Technology. He also consults for Pharmaceutical companies and Medical Schemes in South Africa. He writes for the Medical Chronicle (Medical Journal) regularly and other Journals when invited to do so. He was awarded the Fellowship of Family Physicians by the College of Medicine of SA – 2013 – FCFP(SA). He has written two books on Managed Care and is a speaker at National and International Conferences on a regular basis.

Prof Chetty was appointed on the NHI (National Health Insurance) Technical Task Team in South Africa. Prof Chetty has been the recipient of a number of awards for leadership in Healthcare. Prof Chetty was awarded the Fullbright – Humphrey scholarship to the USA in 1993 – 1994. He completed his MPH in the USA. Prof Chetty has been appointed on to the Advisory Committee on Partnering with patients – ISQUA (International Society of Quality Assurance) Prof Chetty has worked with the OHSC office with both Hospital and GP Standards and Accreditation. Prof Chetty was appointed to the Board of OHSC (Feb 2018) by the Honorable Minister of Health, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi. Prof Chetty is mainly involved in Quality in Healthcare. He writes on Quality and speaks at numerous conferences on Quality. His appointment to OHSC is testament to his knowledge and work on Quality.

He is a leading promoter of Patient-Centered Care and serves on ISQua, South African PCC programs and also the African Communities program on PCC. He presented on PCC at the ISQua, London Conference. He has coordinated and presented on PCC at the Africa Health Conference and the KZNDHC Conference. He has written numerous articles on PCC, its impact on Quality and Cost and the methods to measure PCC programs.
